PDMGDVA withdraws indefinite road blockade

Phek, August 12 (MExN): The Phek District Maytas-Gayatri Damaged Victim Association’s (PDMGDVA) has decided to ‘momentarily’ withdraw the indefinite road blockade on the ongoing Chakhabama-Zunheboto and Phek-Pfutsero 2-laning roads which was proposed to come into effect from August 16.

The proposed blockade was in connection to the PIL filed by Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) for claiming compensation for damage on behalf of Maytas-Gayatri joint venture (JV) victims of Phek District on December 13, 2019.

In its memorandum on July 19, the Association had sought a reply from the State government before the Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench within 30 days, failing which, it had cautioned of an indefinite road blockade on the mentioned stretches of road. The PDMGDVA on Thursday informed that, the State Government has filed a reply and the matter was brought before the High Court on August 11. As such, the proposed indefinite blockade has been momentarily withdrawn, it informed the public. The Association also informed of its resolution on August 11 to “extend similar chance to Government of India, Respondent No.1 of the said PIL to file reply without further delay, for which the Association shall also submit a memorandum to the Ministry at appropriate time.”
