Dimapur, July 22 (MExN): With the objective of creating nationwide awareness on COVID-19 vaccine and promote universal peace and the call for peace building throughout India, a Peace Mission from Nagaland to Kerala flagged off from Bishop’s House, Dimapur on July 20.

It is further aimed at asking the government to establish a peace and justice commission in all states and national levels to educate, capacitate, promote peace and harmony in all levels.

It’s a preventive, protective and intervene strategies when violent conflict happens, a press release informed from Peace Channel. The mission is spearheaded by Dr Sajeev Thomas, a Radio physicist at CIHSR and Rev Fr Manu CST, a priest at Riphyim, under Wokha district.

Speaking at the flagging-off ceremony Director Peace Channel and Principal NEISSR, Fr Dr CP Anto emphasised on the importance of peace in the individual and community level especially in the pandemic and socio political scenario of India, the release said. 

He further noted that peace has to be experienced in one's personal life and then it can be transmitted to others in the families and communities by sharing and reaching out to others with an Altruistic mentality, it said. 

Dr Anto also stated that peace building is the connecting factor to catalyse sustainable cohesion and peaceful existence for all religions, communities, tribes, regions etc and in such a view, peace-building becomes a close and immediate call of action for a multi-cultural society of India, it added. 

As per the release, he further informed that the Mission also aimed at connecting people and organisations in a stronger manner to stand to speak for peace, rights and justice while calling the concerned organizations and institutions to join hands in uplifting and promoting the Peace Mission.

The objective of the Peace Mission is to promote universal peace and the call for peace building throughout India, the release said, and it seeks to network with various organisations and institutions for the promotion of peace building and peace education in various cities and states.

Alongside, the Mission is promoting and sensitising the people for COVID-19 vaccination keeping in view of the health safety and security of all the sections of the society, it added. 

The Peace Mission is collaboratively organised by Oncorage Foundation, which is working in promotion of mental health; Peace Channel, a youth peace movement; and North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) a peace academic institute.
