National BJP president JP Nadda, who arrived in Imphal on Saturday on his two-day visit in Manipur, claimed that ‘peace prevails’ in Manipur after the BJP came to power four and a half years ago.

Addressing the public meeting at Utlou in Bishnupur district, Nadda highlighted the achievements of BJP-led governments, both at the Centre and in the state. He claimed that remarkable changes in almost all the fields are now witnessed in the state under the BJP-led coalition government under the leadership Chief Minister N Biren.

Nadda said he remembered the ‘woeful state of condition’ of Manipur before the BJP came to power in the state and stated, “Development paces accelerated in the state after the BJP government in the state.” “The state is now free from all shortages of bandhs, blockades and strikes and it has helped in accelerating the development pace in the state,” he added. “Not only had the people but traders suffered a lot due to poor connectivity. But, it has been a thing of the past as works for improvement of road connectivity, bridges and railways have started in full swing,” he said.

Stating that he had come to highlight the report card of the government he said, “I am sure BJP will return to power again after the elections.”

Earlier, upon his arrival at Imphal Airport, JP Nadda was accorded a warm welcome by state BJP leaders including CM Biren Singh, state BJP president A Sharda Devi, BJP (Manipur in-charge) Sambit Patra, national executive committee member of the party and state works minister Th Biswajit, among others.

At the time of filing this report, Nadda was holding a review meeting on the preparation being made for the upcoming elections with ministers, MLAs, MPs of the party and other states at Hotel Classic Grande, Imphal.

On the second day of his visit on Sunday, Nadda is scheduled to visit Shree Shree Govindajee Temple in Imphal before inaugurating a newly constructed office building of the party in Imphal’s Nityapat Chuthek. He is also scheduled to hold interactions with achievers, prominent citizens and celebrities of Manipur at a programme to be held at City Convention Centre, Imphal.

Nadda will be leaving Imphal on Sunday evening.
