People against high handed law keepers

SEPTEMBER 15 BUS SHOOTOUT

DIMAPUR, SEPT 16 (Mexn): In the wake of the incident at Silonijan and Garambani Bridge in Assam which saw the killing of Peter Yimchungru, a passenger traveling on a Tuensang-bound bus, by bodyguards of the ADC (J) Mokokchung, swift condemnation of the act by the culpable continues to pour in.

The Tuensang Mon Students Federation (TMSF) while condemning the incident questioned whether the public were just second-class citizens to be treated like animals and that if service arms were issued to officials to shoot the innocent.

It urged the authorities to take immediate action against the culprits. The western Yimchungru Students Union (WYAA) also took strong exception of the conduct of those involved in the killing particularly the ADC (J) condemning him as “a law keeper turned deaf and blind while he cannot his bodyguards and driver”.

The WYAA stated that the police personnel showed no respect for their own police uniforms or their responsibilities as they instead of arranging medical help to the deceased warned the passengers not to help him.

The Union appealed to then state Government to take immediate action against the culprits within one week or it would be forced to take their own course of action.

The Tuensang and Mon Union (TMU) while expressing its sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family, also strongly condemned the incident and the audacity of the ‘guardians of the law’ who took the law in their own hands.

The Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) also expressed their disgust at the incident and demanded stringent action against the four perpetrators.

The union stated that the ADC (J) not only proved him self irresponsible but also misled his team as an officer and allowed the crime to take place in his presence. It extended its sympathy and condolences to the family of Lt.Peter Yimchungru and the handyman who was severely injured.
