DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 15 (MExN): Realizing the need of safeguarding the inherent rights and interest of land owner villages, an emergency meet on oil and oil extraction and exploration was held Monday, 15 October 2012 at Old Jalukie village council hall. The meet which was attended by Chairman, GBs, elders and intellectuals resolved to constitute a body under the name and style “Peren District Petroleum and Natural Gas Bearing Belt Land Owners’ Union (PDPNGBBLOU) which will act as the sole parental organization of the district with matters pertaining to the oil extraction and exploration.
The meeting also unanimously appointed Kumui Nring as the Chairman, Dr. Ndangkie Ndang as Secretary, Mr Vido as Treasurer, all respective village Chairpersons as Ex-Officio Executive members and three Executive members from each village. The respective village Chairpersons has been directed to submit names of the executive members in its first executive meeting early November.
