DIMAPUR, JUNE 6 (MExN): The All Liangmai Naga Students Union (Manipur and Assam) has appealed to the Nagaland government to address the deplorable condition of the road from Peren-Tening in the current fiscal year. A press note by its President, Liangkebo stated that inspite of road from Peren to Tening being only 25 Kms, due to “deplorable conditions”, Vehicles take more than three hours to travel the stretch. It added that the public are facing “immense hardships” due to poor road communication.
The union apprised the elected Minister and MLA of the district to take up the matter as a top priority since “the road is the lifeline of the Zeliangrong people living in Peren district of Nagaland and Tamenglong district of Manipur.
It added that the lack of infrastructure and development in Tening town, one of the oldest townships in Nagaland, has kept it “still in the dark.” However it expressed gratitude to the present MLA of 6th Tening A/C, Namri Chang’s initiative to express the road and the town.
The union further appealed to all the department officers and staffs of Peren district to be more regular in their duties and work sincerely. It cautioned that the union would no longer tolerate the “present functioning system of some departments.” It informed that all government employees posted in Peren district are mandatory to fulfill public grievances. The union further warned that if any staff is found absent during office hours, it would take stern action as per government rules.
