Pfutsero gets first private hospital with hi-tech facilities

Kohima, November 4 (MExN):  Nagaland Minister for Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Neiba Kronu today inaugurated the much needed and the first private hospital with modern facilities under Pfutsero sub-division in Phek district.

The hospital, named Mero Hospital and Diagnostic Center, Pfutsero is in the main town and initiated by former minister from Pfutsero Assembly Constituency Late L Mero as his last project for the people and was supported under Article 275(1) by Planning and Coordination Department, Government of Nagaland.

Formally inaugurating the hospital on November 4, Minister Kronu maintained that Pfutsero does have a government health centre which needs proper upgradation but there was an ardent need to have a private hospital equipped with modern technology to cater to the wellbeing of people.

Concerned over patients being recommended to Kohima and Dimapur due to want of specialists and diagnostic facilities, he said Late Mero had willfully come forward with the idea and also sought for government support to set up the hospital at his private commercial building.

Equipped with facilities like ECG, Ultrasound, X-Ray machine, Blood Test and hi-tech operation theatre, the hospital will cater to the patients of the area and also from Phek and Kiphire district, he said.     

Health is the most important thing for everyone, he said while adding that the hospital was a huge necessity as Pfutsero is surrounded by big villages and at least 60 percent of the population of Phek district reside around the sub-division.

The functioning of the first private hospital in the district will be a beginning for better health care facilities, he asserted. 

The Minister also maintained that, as the sitting MLA of the constituency, he is making all efforts to bring nationalized banks for financial convenience of investors.

He also said that the state government is serious in the developmental process of Phek district because of which roads and other development are reaching Pfutsero and other areas of the district. In this, he appealed to the people of the constituency and the district to extend cooperation and support towards the success of the government projects.

Kronu, a three-time MLA of the constituency, also urged the electorates to accept him and also the party candidates in the 2023 state general election.    

Managing Director of Mero Hospital, Dr D K Mero informed that the 20-bedded hospital has five doctors while specialists from Kohima would be available on appointed days.

Chakhesang Public Organization president Mikha Kenye, Chakhesang Mothers’ Association president Zhonelü Tunyi and Pfutsero Town Welfare Committee convener Mezelo Lomi lauded the vision of late L Mero and the efforts of Minister Kronu towards bringing better facilities for Pfutsero constituency in particular and Phek district in general.

Rev Z Mero pronounced the dedicatory prayer on the occasion.
