Pfutsero, March 14 (MExN): Indian Foreign Made Liquors (IMFL) seized by Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) in collaboration with the law enforcing agencies of Pfutsero was destroyed at the ADC office premise, Pfutsero on March 14.

A press release from the Chakhesang Clean Election Movement (CCEM) stated that the unclaimed IMFL were seized by the CMA volunteers manning the check gates for liquor and other intoxicated substances during the recently concluded state assembly election.

During the occasion, ADC and Returning Officer, Japheth Woch said, “Pfutsero constituency is one of the ‘most peaceful’ elections with no hiccups.” CMA spearheaded the activities during the election under the initiative of CCEM.

“None of the churches have done like the Chakhesang which is a success story,” Woch asserted. He said that because of the check gates initiative in the Chakhesang region, there was no law and order issue and assured support for any such initiative in the future.

Initially, Woch said he “doubted the CCEM but at the same time the administration was short of personnel to man the entries. Realising that the initiative started to help the administration, he tried to explain it to the district administration.”

He also stated that the Election Observer had inspected the region. “Upon seeing the activities of the CMA, the observer acknowledged it and directed Deputy Commissioner to make documentation of their work,” the ADC added.

OC Pfutsero Police Station, Lulun Singson informed that the IMFL destroyed were “unclaimed and non FIR cases.”

Regular and registered cases were sent to the district administration at Phek, which was submitted for six times. This was the second time, the IMFL were destroyed in Pfutsero, the OC informed.

CMA, President Zhonelu Tunyi said the check gate initiative started with zero-budget and on credit. ‘However, the contribution from the Chakhesang Baptist Church Council and various other organisations and individuals made it a success,’ she said while thanking the law enforcing agencies for their cooperation. CPO President, Vezuhu Keyho and CCEM Chairman Rev Vezopa Rhakho also spoke briefly. CBCC Executive Secretary, Chekrove-i Cho said prayer before the IMFL was destroyed.
