PGC conducts workshop on ‘Critical Thinking’

DIMAPUR, JUNE 9 (MExN): A day workshop on ‘Critical Thinking’ was organised on June 7 at Pfutsero Government College, Pfutsero by the Research Committee in collaboration with IQAC, PGC.

According to a press release received from PGC Mass Media Committee convener Grace Semp, the resource person for the workshop was Dr Venusa Tinyi, Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy, University of Hyderabad.

Dr Tinyi’s teaching and research interests includes logic (formal and informal), critical thinking, normative studies and Naga culture/identity studies. He is a recipient of the university gold medal for his Master’s program in Philosophy. He also has to his credit Master of Christian Studies from the Biblical Graduate School of Theology (Singapore).

The workshop had two technical sessions. The topic for the first session was ‘Critical Thinking I,’ where the resource person discussed on the importance of language, types of questions and disagreement on critical analysis.

For the second session ‘Critical Thinking II: Logical fallacies in reasoning’ the resource person discussed on formal and informal reasoning and the 3 types of logical fallacies.

Mhabeni, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology was the moderator for both the technical sessions. Dr Bweyhunle Khing, Principal, PGC, gave the keynote address and Sesoteu Kapfo, Convenor, Research committee, PGC conveyed the vote of thanks. The program was chaired by Wetso-u Medo, Assistant Professor, Department of History, PGC.
