Dimapur, September 4 (MExN): The Department of Environment Studies, Arts and Science streams of Phek Government College, Phek organized a field study trip-cum-cleanliness drive at Mt Kapamodzü on August 26.

According to a press release received here on Sunday, the main objective of the field trip was to study the vegetation and to identify and document the plant species, particularly the angiospermic plants, occurring in Mt Kapamodzü which is situated at an altitude of 2,620 metres (8,600ft), and to create awareness among the students about the importance of conservation of natural vegetation occurring in the study area.

The importance of ecotourism was also deliberated among students and the potential to develop, harness and synergize such a pristine location as an important tourist destination in the district was discussed and concluded that due effort should be made at the community level to harness such pristine location.

The trip was organized and supervised by Assistant Professor Ronald Difoe, Assistant Professor Pfüchüpeü Mero and Assistant Professor Seyiechonu Kera. A total of 79 students from Arts stream and 16 students from Science stream participated in the field study trip, the release informed.
