Phek, September 24 (MExN): The principal and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Phek Government College (PGC) in collaboration with Kohima Science College, Jotsoma organized a one day NAAC orientation programme on September 19 for the staff and faculty members of PGC.
Three resource persons were deputed from Kohima Science College Jotsoma, the mentor college – Dr. Vizovol Mekro, Associate Professor (Geology Dept.) and IQAC coordinator for 1st Cycle; Dr. Seyiekhriele Whiso, Assistant Professor (English Dept.) and IQAC coordinator for 2nd Cycle; Dr. Vethselo Doulo, Assistant Professor (Zoology Dept.) and NAAC steering committee member.
The programme had two sessions. In the first session, Dr. S. Whiso briefed the gathering on the need for NAAC accreditation and the procedure and technicalities in the preparation of the LOI/IEQA and SSR, and uploading of the SSR. In the second session, Dr. V. Mekro shared on the prerequisites of an institution before it goes for NAAC accreditation and also on their experiences of peer team visit, informed a press release. Dr. V. Doulo shared on the importance of library in an institution and the need and ways to develop it. Each session was followed by an interaction time, where faculty and staff raised queries, which were deliberated upon with the resource persons.
The day long programme also included visitation by the resource persons to the college library, class rooms, departments and laboratories, and feedbacks were given for further improvement.
A total of 35 faculty and staff attended the programme, which culminated with vote of thanks by the vice principal of PGC. He expressed gratitude to the three resource persons and Kohima Science College, Jotsoma in general for their support and also the Directorate for initiating and enabling the college mentorship programme. The programme was chaired by the IQAC coordinator, PGC and welcome address was delivered by the principal PGC.
