Kohima, February 25 (MExN): In what can be termed as bringing relief to denizens of the state capital, the PHE department is all set to distribute drinking water by water tanker to the public. The distribution of drinking water is to facilitate additional drinking water during the lean period. Water distribution will start from March 1 till April 30, subject to extension. A nominal fee of Rs. 0.25 Paise only per litre shall be realized from the water distributed. However the fee for the bulk sale of the full tanker is fixed at Rs. 2000. Under no circumstance a full tanker of water shall be sold to any hotel/restaurant/hostel etc. However, a Panchayat chairman/ward councilor may buy the full tanker at the prescribed rate for onward distribution to the locality people.
Water is for drinking and cooking and not for any other purpose, according to Vikeduolie, executive engineer, PHE Urban Division, Kohima.
