Kiphire, October 20 (MExN): Training on skill development under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) support activities was organised by District Water and Sanitation, PHED Kiphire Division at Pungro and Khonsa blocks on October 14 and 15.
Altogether 60 participants from 15 villages under Pungro and Khonsa blocks were trained on trade like plumbing/fitters, welding and masonry during the training.
A press release received here stated that Limatemsu, District Co-ordinator, Kiphire delivered the keynote address and highlighted the various aspects of the JJM programme and the purpose behind the training.
Junior Engineer, PHED Kiphire, Er Metmei Phom, addressed the participants about the importance of JJM and discussed the role and responsibilities of village Water and Sanitation Committees on maintenance and sustainability of village water supply system. He urged the participants to get themselves well acquainted with the purpose of the training and learn maximum possible knowledge with zeal and enthusiasm rather merely attending it for certificates. He further stated that VWSCs and the skilled personals will play an important role in operation & maintenance of water supply system in the village on sustainability of the government's flagship programme.
Preparedness on water and sanitation interventions, components and types of scheme, activities in planning phase, activities in implementation phase, support activities, fund provision were addressed during the training session followed by distribution of certificates to the participants.
