DIMAPUR, JUNE 18 (MExN): The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Phek Division conducted two days training on capacity building on Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) and Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA) under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) support activity at Pfutsero town.

The programme covered Pfutsero, Chizami and Kikruma block, and was sponsored by the Sanitation & WSSO, PHED Nagaland. The participants included WATSAN members, Swachhagrahis/ FTK users and Implementing Support Agency (ISA) Kalos Society Pfutsero. 

Abigail Ritse, Hygiene & Sanitation Consultant, PHED, Phek presented a power point presentation on social behaviour change communication focusing mainly on water source protection, waste management, gender inclusion, importance of women participation, operation and maintenance and importance of water service fee.

KethonuTheyo, District Chemist, PHED Phek emphasized on the importance of water quality, the harmful effects of contaminated water and the importance of testing water regularly.

Kutulu Vero, District Coordinator, PHED Phek highlighted on the Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA) campaign, after which the villages will carry out activities on JSA at village level, making the campaign Jan Andolan. 

During the training, an animated video on JJM developed by NEIDA in collaboration with the department, video on JSA ‘Catch the rain, where it falls when it falls’ by Dreams Unlimited and water testing video by the State Chemist were displayed.
