Phek: One held for assaulting minor boy
Phek, July 1 (MExN): A minor boy was allegedly sexually assaulted, Phek police said on Wednesday, adding that the accused has been arrested and a case registered against him.
A written FIR was received on July 1, 2026, regarding the assault on a minor child by an alleged accused person. Consequently, Phek Women PS Case No. 0005/26 U/S 4/5(1Km)/6/8/10/12 POCSO Act has been registered for investigation, the Phek Police Media Cell said. Accordingly, a special team of Phek Police was constituted and the alleged accused person was apprehended on same day.
The minor victim is reported to be stable and is receiving necessary care and protection. Following the completion of initial legal proceedings, the accused has been remanded to judicial custody, it added.
Police have appealed to the public to respect the victim’s privacy and refrain from sharing any information that could lead to the identification of the child. Authorities have warned that doing so is a punishable offense under Section 72 of the BNS, 2023, Section 23 of the POCSO Act, and Section 74 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
“Children are the future of our society,” the police statement read, urging citizens to cooperate in creating a safe and protective environment. Phek Police have assured the public that all efforts are being made to complete the investigation in a timely manner to achieve a logical conclusion.
