Phek NPF calls for a ‘Road Map’ to end fratricide

Dimapur, Sept 21 (MExN): The NPF Phek division, taking serious note of the unabated factional clashes between rival underground groups, reminded the factional leaders of the futility of such conflicts to gain territorial supremacy among the Naga people. On this the division called for a “road map” acceptable for all groups to foster unity and for pursuance of a negotiated political settlement.

“…the unabated factional clashes which continue to affect our society and express the futility in such territorial supremacy amongst Nagas” stated a meeting bulletin received from the Phek division. The division had on September 20 a ‘consultative meeting’ at Kigwema, Kohima. “As such the house fervently appeal to leaders of all groups to restrain their cadres from further fratricidal killings and instead undertake exercise to workout a road map acceptable to all groups to foster unity amongst them so as to pursue jointly for a negotiated political settlement between the GOI and Naga national workers” it called.

The division also ‘reviewed the performance’ of the three NPF legislators of the area namely Nagaland Home Minister Thenucho, Agriculture Minister Kuzholuzo and Law & Justice Parliamentary Secretary Yitachu. The party accorded its appreciation to the three for representing the NPF “in the best possible way” in the Legislative Assembly as well as in the Government under whose leadership many developments have been brought to Phek district”.

The meeting also expressed satisfaction at “the grand success” of the programmes being implemented under the ‘Year of farmers’ and also to the DAN government. The division maintained that the ‘Year of Farmers’ has brought about a “tremendous change” affecting the “economic background of every household across the state”. Maintaining this the division also suggested to the DAN government that the “Year of farmers” be continued the next year as well.

Other matter discussed at the meeting included the role of CYF and its activities “in the present tenure which has become controversial because of the partisan stand it has adopted”. The house held view that neutrality should be maintained by social organizations for the general interest of the people. The division also affirmed its total support to the leadership of Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as well as to Urban Planning Minister Dr Shurhozelie.
