Phek Police, in coordination with the district administration, Phek Area Mothers' Association, Phek Town Chakhesang Students' Union and the Tobacco Control Cell, seized tobacco products from areas falling within 100 yards of educational institutions in Phek town during an enforcement drive on June 6.
Speaking to The Morung Express, Superintendent of Police Dr Pritpal Kaur said the police, along with the concerned stakeholders, regularly conduct inspections to check the sale of tobacco products in the town.
The action was carried out under the provisions of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003, which prohibits the sale of tobacco products within a radius of 100 yards of any educational institution.
Officials said the drive was aimed at ensuring compliance with anti-tobacco regulations and protecting students from access to tobacco products.
