Phek: Stakeholders chalk out plan to double farmer’s income by 2022

  Dimapur, August 5 (MExN): A stakeholders meet for doubling the farmers income by 2022 was convened at DC Office Conference Hall, Phek on August 4.   The Stake holders from district Agriculture and Allied departments, KVK, the representatives of financial institutions like NABARD, State Bank of India and progressive NGO’s of the district attended the meet to chalk out the plan of work, a press note informed.   The Additional Director Department, Department of Agriculture, N Thungjamo Lotha also attended as a special guest at the meeting.   The Deputy Commissioner Phek Kovi Meyase, who chaired the meeting, initiated the discussion by highlighting the need of road map to achieve the goal.   He also called upon all the departments to work in unison and utilize their respective resources and expertise in the adopted village for the upliftment of the farming community.   The Additional Director also highlighted the seven point strategies to achieve doubling of farmers’ income by 2022 as envisaged by the Prime Minister of India.   He reiterated the importance of convergence of all the concerned departments and financial institutions is imperative and need of the hour.   Dr RK Singh, Sr. Scientist and Head of KVK Phek presented the 5 year tentative action plan for doubling farmer’s income by 2022.   The village Gidemi of Chizami block has been taken as a model for technology demonstration and further up scaling to other villages of the district, he said and sought assistance from all the departments present in the meeting to formulate and finalize the programme.   The District officials of Agriculture, Horticulture/PD ATMA, AH &Vety., LRD, Fisheries, Irrigation and Flood control, DRDA, SBI, NABARD and NGOs assured their assistance for successful implementation of the programme, the press note informed.
