Phek village to stand by Clean Election movement

Kohima, January 20 (MExN): The Phek Village Council informed that a consultative meeting pertaining to the upcoming 2023 election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly was held at Phek village community hall on January 9 last with the participation of leaders from different frontal organizations.

The meeting adopted two points resolution with a view to ensure peaceful atmosphere within the village jurisdiction till election process is over.

As per the resolutions made during Phekmi Coordination meeting held on November 28 last year, the consultative meeting reaffirmed its commitment to stand by the Clean Election Movement under the guidance of Nagaland Baptist Church Council, Chakhesang Baptist Church Council and Chakhesang Public Organization.

“Now, therefore no political party/parties shall be allowed to campaign nor propagate any party vested interest inside the village jurisdiction,” the resolution stated adding that electoral gratification in the form of cash distribution or resources for political favour shall be strictly prohibited.

It also resolved that public movement inside village jurisdiction shall be restricted from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am once election model code of conduct come into force.

In case of medical emergency/s, the Village Council may allow passage (in & out) after thorough verification, it stated.
Such resolution shall come into force with effect from the date of election notification, it stated.

The village council has authorized/empowered the Phek Village Youth Organisation for monitoring and strict implementation of the resolutions.

The resolution was jointly signed by Phek Village Council Chairman Kuzhoniecho Keyho, Phek Students’ Union,President Vepo Soho, Phek Village Women VDB Chairperson, Kuzhonolü Huire, Phek Village Head GB Puchopa Vero, Phek Collegiate Forum, President Vekupa Venuh, Phek Village Youth Organization, President, Nieduyi Huire and Phek Village Mothers’ Association, President, Vesevolu Keyho.
