Signifying growth in their business venture, two young entrepreneurs, Victor Vikesatuo and Bernard Kesadi, who are also cousins, today opened their second shop under the name “Phenu Disposables” at New Secretariat Road, Kohima.

Fr PM Joseph, Parish Priest of Christ King Church, Kohima formally opened and blessed the shop on Friday evening (September 16).

The duo had ventured into business over a decade ago. They were also the first to establish a disposable shop in the Kohima village area with their venture aptly coined as “Phenu (meaning village) Disposables”. Also ensuring that their products are environment-friendly, ‘Phenu Disposables’ deals with all kinds of biodegradable products such as spoons, plates, cups, paper bags, paper sweet boxes, to name a few.

“We provide disposable plates made of sugarcane starch or corn starch, paper bags and paper sweet boxes, which are all biodegradable. There are other products which are not biodegradable but they are recyclable,” Victor Vikesatuo told The Morung Express.

Their first shop is located at Don Bosco School Road, Kohima under the same name. “With our first shop in the village area, it’s not so accessible by everyone and so we decided to open a branch in the Secretariat area,” he further related.

With the added advantage of several offices in the locality, they also felt that a good parking space was important both for themselves and the customers.

There were people advising them to rent a space in town but the two entrepreneurs felt that the Secretariat area was a better option considering that it is a developing new capital and is also closer to wedding and event venues such as NBCC Convention Hall, Duolhou Garden, etc.

Phenu Disposables sources its products from places like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Jaipur and Guwahati. Over the last ten years, it has been a popular choice for bakers and event managers with a range of products that are eco-friendly.
