WOKHA, JANUARY 19 (MExN): Phiro Baptist Church in Wokha district has taken a significant step toward its centenary celebrations, set to take place in January 2026, with the dedication of a new memorial staff quarter on January 19. The initiative was spearheaded by the married daughters of Phiro village residing in Dimapur, Kohima, and Wokha, who collectively undertook the project as a tribute to the church’s 100-year milestone.

The idea of constructing the staff quarter was conceived in 2019 after discussions with the Pastor and Board of Deacons of Phiro Baptist Church. The daughters of the village collaborated to bring the plan to fruition, beginning construction in March 2024. The building was completed by November 2024, ahead of the dedication ceremony.

The fully furnished staff quarter, located near the church, features two bedrooms with attached washrooms, a sitting room, and a kitchen. It was formally dedicated by Rev. Thungjanshio, Pastor of Phiro Baptist Church, during a ceremony attended by church officials, villagers, and the project contributors who traveled from Dimapur, Kohima, and Wokha with their families.
