‘Pigments’- A collection of poems by duo Rukulu Kezo and Vezolu Puro was released by Nagaland Higher & Technical Education Minister, Temjen Imna Along at Cue Academy on May 16.

Rukulu Kezo and Vezolu Puro are related as sisters-in-law.

Congratulating the duo for coming out with such book, Along expressed happiness that the young Nagas are exploring their creativity and contributing to the literary genre. He said that, Nagas, over the years has set a bad precedence on what is a good life and the notions that define success. The onus is on the younger generation to set and redefine prosperity, the minister said.

He also said Nagaland can only be made strong by the progression of the people and the human resource towards understanding inclusiveness and assimilation of facts and truths.

To have practicality in words and deeds is the need of the hour, otherwise we are headed for a disaster, he stated. He also added that true sovereignty, freedom and prosperity for the Nagas will only come if we work from facts and reality of the prevalent situation.

‘Poetry is a strong voice incontext of Naga women’
Dr Lanusangla Tzudir, chief editor, Heritage Publishing House, Dimapur said that poetry is a strong voice in the context of Naga women. She called upon the people to read the works of the poets as there was so much substance in what they have penned down.

She pointed out that if Nagas don't tell their stories, someone else will do it and that the danger of someone else writing the Naga story has the propensity to misrepresent and undermine the real facts and truth of the people.

Rukulu Kezo said that that poetry is the spontaneous overflow of emotions recollected in tranquility.

Sometimes the only way to communicate is through poems, she said.

As you flip through the pages of 'Pigment', we hope that some of our poems will resonate with you, stated Kezo. The poem is about the memories over the years, stories that goes untold, Kezo added.

Vezolu Puro said that she has been writing poetry for a long time but it has always been by herself.

Writing poetry is my way of venting out anger and discontentment at the world and my words were only confined to my dairy. However, with the encouragement of my sister in-law, I have tried to venture into other experience, tried to see things from others perspective, she said.
