Dimapur, March 7 (MExN): The 25th annual sports meet of Pilgrim School, Dimapur under the theme ‘excellence in the year of jubilee through sports’ by chief guest, Col. Kanwar Vikram Singh, Commanding Officer, 29 Bn Assam Rifles on March 7 at the School ground.
During the inaugural function the chief guest, while congratulating the organizer for organizing the sport meet, said that as an army man travelling the length and breadth of the country, he find one thing in common, that is the love of passionate for sports irrespective of remoteness and size of place. Sports beyond health and activity benefits it teach about life, people, get alone together, achieve common goal, discipline, responsibility, success and failure in equal measure, it also build character of person, better citizen and complete human being. He further wished the competitors to play well and fair.
In welcome note by Bithungo, Administrator Pilgrim School, said that Pilgrim School takes it seriously to promote personality, develop health, character, discipline and strong mental attitude for excellence
The programme began with prayer by Bryan followed by March Past by four contingents, Torch Run by Tovali and Lunminlun (Best athletes of 24 Annual Sports meet). Continuous Drill Display was presented by NCC Cadets of Pilgrim School under No.1 (NL) Air Squadron NCC and taekwondo demonstration by school taekwondo students, Oath taking for sports under the leadership of Akito, Sports in charge.
Some of the others events include running race, relay race, long jump, shot put, volley ball, tug-of-war competing by the four houses Dolphin-Yellow house, Panther-Pink house, Falcon-Purple house, Hornets-Green house.
