Mokokchung, August 2 (MExN): A dedicatory programme for the opening of the Platinum Park was held at Asangma village under Tuli subdivision, Mokokchung on August 2. Constructed under the initiative of Asangma Shisashir Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD), the park was inaugurated by MLA and Advisor for Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, A Pangjung Jamir.
In his address, the Advisor acknowledged ASTD for taking up the task of constructing such a beautiful park which would be utilised by every age group of people, who can come n relax themselves. He encouraged all the villagers to undertake more such initiatives in the village to attract tourists in the days to come. Taking the example of the Assam State Government who receives crore in revenue annually through tourist inflow at Kaziranga National Park, the Adivsor called on the community to utilise their picturesque natural surroundings for the good of tourism.
Lastly, Jamir encouraged all gathered in the programme to be collectively responsible to keep Platinum Park neat n clean at all times, a press release from ASTD Vice President, Moatemsu Imsong stated.
Speeches were also delivered by Moatemsu Imsong, Vice President, ASTD, Moalong, President, AST, R Jongponglolen, Tatar, Asangma Village council and S Bengdang Imsong, Park Construction Committee.
Convenor of Park Construction Committee, I Sendong Jamir in his report mentioned that the building process began in September 2023 and took about 10 months total to complete. The park has been constructed in anticipation of the 75th anniversary celebration of the Asangma Shisashir Telongjem (ASU), he noted.
