Cook cum Helper training conducted under the PM Poshan Scheme.

Dimapur, December 16 (MExN): The Cook cum Helpers Training and Cooking Competition under the PM Poshan Scheme was officially launched today at the Community Educational Centre Society (CECS) Centralized Kitchen in Dimapur. The event, which runs in two phases, marks an initiative to enhance the skills of cooks and helpers from government schools across Dimapur, Dhansiriphar, Niuland, and Medziphema areas.
The inaugural ceremony saw the participation of key officials, including Jevika Kiba, Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO) Dimapur, and Khriekethozo Lhoungnu, Nodal Officer for PM Poshan, Directorate of School Education Kohima. In his address, Lhoungnu emphasized the importance of equipping cooks and helpers with the necessary knowledge and skills to prepare hygienic, nutritious, and quality meals for students.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Subonenba Longkumer, Director of CECS, who highlighted the operations of the PM Poshan Centralized Kitchen managed by CECS in Dimapur Urban. Chef Supong Lkr, from Breton Patisserie, Chumoukedima, conducted an informative session on hygiene, food safety, nutrition, and efficient cooking practices.
Jevika Kiba, SDEO Dimapur, officially launched the event and praised the initiative as a significant step toward enhancing the quality of mid-day meals in schools. She stressed the role of the training in improving students’ overall well-being and academic performance.
In addition to the training sessions, a live cooking demonstration showcased innovative techniques that maintain the nutritional value of meals. Participants had the opportunity to interact with experts and share insights, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
The first phase of the training runs from December 16 to December 19, with the second phase scheduled for January 13 to January 18, 2025.
