Peren, May 9 (MExN): PM SHRI GHS DC Colony, Peren celebrated its 50 years of existence with Deputy Chief Minister, TR Zeliang and Advisor for School Education & SCERT, Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, as the special guest and the guest of honour respectively on May 9.

As per the DIPR report, Zeliang said, “One fascinating statistic he came across is that it took 33 years to go from GPS to GMS and an impressive 13 years only to achieve upgradation to GHS.” This remarkable progress speaks volumes about the commitment of the School’s faculty and management, he stated.

“Education is the cornerstone of a progressive society, and GHS DC Colony Peren continues to be the cradle of knowledge, nurturing young minds from the town and neighbouring villages,” Zeliang stated.

He challenged the teachers to continue embracing modern teaching methods, innovative thinking and critical learning strategies to prepare students for the challenges of a global future and inspire the students not just to seek jobs but to create them to be change-makers in our community and beyond. “High school is a formative and most important phase in students’ lives; what we instill in them now will shape their future and who they become in life,” Zeliang added.

TR Zeliang also commended the Advisor for school Education, Dr Yhome for his deep commitment to transforming the education landscape of our state.

He also encouraged the students to strive for excellence and greatness and told the students to have a positive and undying spirit to be on par with the best schools and institutes in the state.

Zeliang called the gathering to rededicate ourselves to the values the school upholds and resolve to do better and achieve things together in the field of education. He encouraged them to dream bigger for the next 59 years and to continue to illuminate minds and ignite dreams.

Advisor for School Education & SCERT, Dr Yhome, Deputy Commissioner Peren, Hiazu Meru and President, Zeliang Students Union Nagaland also spoke during the programme.

Highlights of the events were “Dance to Your Own Beat” by the pre-primary class, Living Hope by the Jubilee Choir and a drum ensemble by the students.

Earlier, TR Zeliang unveiled the Jubilee Monolith, followed by an invocation pronounced by Pastor, Peren Town Baptist Church, Rev Haiku Nza.
