
Kohima, August. 17 (MExN): The Poumai Naga Students’ Union Kohima (PNTMK) organized a two-day Sports Meet cum Annual Get Together in commemoration of 71st Naga Independence Day under the theme “together we grow” at Seikhazou Ground D. Khel Kohima. Senior advocate Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench, Ashipri Zho graced the inaugural session on August 14 as the chief guest and Advisor Poumai Naga Union Kohima (PNUK) CD. Jongeo John was the guest of honour. In men’s football, Poumai Catholic youth emerged as champions after defeating Soudamai Club 1-0. Catholic A beat Catholic B in women’s volleyball while in men’s volley ball, Chuva Soumai Club beat Soudamai Club. In basketball, Catholic youth emerged as champions by defeating Baptist youth. In football exhibition matches, Poumai Women Union Kohima beat Poumai Students’ Union Kohima 1-0; in men’s football, Poumai Students’ Union Kohima beat Poumai Naga Union Kohima 3-2 and Catholic Church leaders beat Baptist Church leaders 2-1. On August 14 in the inaugural session, Ashipri Zho in his address as the chief guest urged the Poumai society to be truthful and faithful like the forefathers. He encouraged the young generations to emulate the nature of Tenyimi people by possessing strong moral conduct. He also advised the gathering to stick to their profession sincerely and consistently to enjoy the fruit from it. C.D. Jongeo John in his address as the guest of honour urged the gathering to shed petty differences on denominational issue and live together peacefully as one family in the Lord. He appreciated the efforts of the students’ union for organizing such event where it brought together people from different walks of life.
