DIMAPUR, FEB 12 (MExN): Pochury Public Forum (PPF) has written to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio stating their grievances for late Sarhotho, Assistant Commandant, 9th IRB, a promising young officer, who was killed in Chhattisgarh.
The PPF in its representation signed by Penthu Pochury, President described it as “unfortunate” that a state funeral service was not held for the 3 (three) victims of 9th IRB who were killed on February 8, 2007 in a landmine blast while on duty in Chhattisgarh, whereas a state funeral service was held for the 9 jawans of 9th IRB who were also killed while in action in February 6, 2006.
Further stating that when a chopper service is made available for the operation against Naxalites, for the convenience of the jawans, why the state government would take days together to shift the mortal remains of the poor victims to their respective places.
Also disclosing that late Sarhotho was in fact first posted at Naldoka, 8th NAP under Zunheboto district, but within a week time his posting was maneuvered by vested individuals and was posted to 9th NAP (IRB) and sent out to Chhattisgarh which made him to meet this fate, the PPF stated.
In view of the above reasons, the people of Pochury in its representation to the Chief Minister took this as a discrimination against the minority community. It therefore demanded to the state government for immediate redressal, which included setting up of Petrol Pump for the bereaved family like the Kargil war victims and to observe 8th February as NAP, IR Bn. Martyrs Day.
