Pochury frontal organizations demand cabinet berth for Yitachu

DIMAPUR, MARCH 4 (MExN): The Frontal Organizations of the Pochury Community have appealed to the Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio; NPF President, Shürhozelie, and senior party functionaries to accommodate Yitachu of 20th Meluri A/C to the council of ministers in the NPF led DAN-III government.

In a joint statement, the Pochury organizations stated that the 20th Meluri A/C is the second largest constituency in terms of geographical area which covers more than 50% of Phek district and a considerable population of Pochury spread across the border in Myanmar. It said that “ever since the statehood of Nagaland, the elected representative from 20th Meluri A/C has never been a given cabinet berth nor major portfolio. 

The press note further stated that Yitachu, the elected representative of the 20th Meluri A/C for three consecutive terms “has been working diligently in bringing the policies and programs of the government to the common people, thus enhancing the image and performance of the DAN government.” It added that the mandate of the people “in favour of Yitachu, for the last three consecutive election bear testimony to the unflinching faith and support of the people of the constituency” to the NPF party under the leadership the Chief Minister and the NPF President.

It said that in order to ensure social, economic and political equality among the Naga tribes and “considering the sincerity, hard work and experience of their elected member”, Yitachu should be used in a “more effective position by allotting him a cabinet berth with a good portfolio.
