Pol-Fiesta 2025 celebrates talent and teamwork at SJU

CHÜMOUKEDIMA, MAY 4 (MExN): The third edition of Pol-Fiesta, the annual flagship event of the Political Science Association (PSA) at St. Joseph University, Chümoukedima, concluded on May 1 under the vibrant theme “Bollywood Blockbuster.” This year’s event, designed to highlight the extracurricular talents of students, marked the department’s continued commitment to holistic education by blending academic insight with creative expression.

Unlike previous editions, Pol-Fiesta 2025 was an intra-departmental event, focusing exclusively on the students of the Department of Political Science. The fest began with an inaugural session chaired by K. Pangyau Phom. The welcome address was delivered by Pfücülo Krome, Vice President of the PSA, and the session featured the unveiling of the department’s first Annual Magazine by Dr Kinitoli Yeptho, Dean of Social Sciences.

A key moment during the event was the ceremonial handover of responsibilities from the outgoing PSA Executives to the newly elected team. The inaugural session also included the Presidential Address delivered by both the former and incumbent PSA Presidents, followed by the presentation of honorary certificates to students for outstanding contributions and participation.

Another feature of the first session was the Mobile Cinema Exhibition, a creative platform that allowed students to present critical narratives through short films. The exhibition was judged by Dr Noarem Nishikanta Singh and D. Kayideluo Pfoze (Dept of JMC).

The second session saw class-wise competitions, including Quartet, Shayari (Poem Slam), Comedy Mimicry, and Dance, with enthusiastic participation from all classes. Each class brought forward unique interpretations of the theme, showcasing both talent and teamwork.

UG IV Semester, Department of Political Science emerged as the Overall Champion of Pol-Fiesta 2025, under the guidance of Sungjemmongla Jamir, Nangzuknungla Imsong, and Rukuvelu Chuzho, securing the highest cumulative points across all events and claiming the championship trophy.

Pol-Fiesta 2025 successfully achieved its goal of unleashing student potential, building leadership, and highlighting talent while strengthening teamwork. The event stands as a testament to the dynamic student culture fostered by the Department of Political Science at St. Joseph University, Chümoukedima.
