
Dimapur, March 18 (MExN): The Mokokchung Police on Saturday informed that it had recovered unidentified human remains from an accident site at National Highway 702 D near Changki village in Mokokchung district and appealed for help in identifying deceased.
The accident occurred on March 16 when a truck bearing registration number AS03CC 4134 rolled down a deep gorge on its way to Tuensang from Dimapur carrying FCI rice, the Additional Superintendent of Police & PRO informed in a press release received here on Saturday.
As per the release, the vehicle was on fire at the time of verification. While the rescue party brought the fire under control, unidentifiable charred remains of an adult male and a minor (aged approximately 2-3 years) were recovered from the site along with other human body parts. One injured person was also shifted to the hospital for medical treatment, it said.
The PRO also informed that upon inquiry, it was learned that one male and a female along with a child had boarded the truck from Rangajan under Golaghat district in Assam. After completion of all legal formalities, the dead bodies were shifted to the morgue at the District Hospital Mokokchung for post-mortem examination and identification, the police said while requesting claimants, relatives, friends of the deceased to contact the officer-in-charge, Mangkolemba Police Station (7630856828).
