DIMAPUR, AUGUST 7 (MExN): The Nagaland Police arrested one person from Punjab for fraudulently running a Facebook account and posing as Nagaland Advisor for Power Tovihoto Ayemi. According to a press release from the Dimapur police, the accused had created a fake Facebook profile fronting as Ayemi to run a fund-raising scam. The release said, “Through this fake Facebook account multiple requests was made for online financial help from various people after fraudulently posting certain bank account numbers.” His identity and location was established “after conduct of certain technical analysis on the fake Facebook page,” it said. The accused, identified as Sunil Kumar (26 years), was arrested from Fazilka district on August 6 by a police team from Sub-urban Police Station with assistance from the Punjab Police. He was booked under relevant sections of the IPC and the IT Act.
