Police clarifies on IRB HQ construction

Dimapur, March 7 (MExN): The Police Engineering Project today clarified that the construction works for the 9th NAP (IR) Battalion at Saijang has been allotted to M/s Singh Construction Company on turn-key contract at Rs 39.94 crores and not Rs 49 crores as alleged by the NPCC on March 2 which appeared in some of the local dailies.

A press release issued by the Chief Engineer of Police Project, Hito Visa while clarifying the Congress allegation against ‘Minister Home Nagaland’, stated that awarding of the construction works for the 9 NAP (IRB) at Saijang ‘is not correct as per records of this office’.

“It is true that the work was allotted to M/s Singh Construction Co. on Turn-key contract amounting to Rs 39.94 crores on item rate by observing all codal formalities” the release clarified and added that the contract was not allotted for Rs 49 crores as appeared in the local dallies. 

It may be mentioned that the NPCC had on March 2 last alleged that the construction of the 9th IRB HQ at Saijang had been tendered by Nagaland Minister, Thenucho at an estimated cost of Rs 49 crores which the congress alleged to be 85% above the scheduled rate given.
