Pays tributes to all police personnel who died in the line of duty

Manipur Police department paid homage to its personnel who died in the line of duty as the state joined in the observance of 62nd Police Commemoration Day on Thursday.

State police chief LM Khoute led the police personnel in paying homage to the department colleagues while observing the day at the Parade Ground of 1st Manipur Rifles (MR) in Imphal.

A contingent of 1st MR personnel also offered a gun salute to the departed police personnel on the occasion.

Talking to reporters, DGP LM Khoute said that the department observed the day to commemorate the sacrifices made by the police personnel while discharging their duties to maintain law and orders.

The day has been observed every year across the state as a mark of respect to the police personnel who died in line of duty and today, they paid homage to the personnel who died in the last one year, he said.

“We paid homage to the police officers and personnel who died in line of duty in the last one year,” he said.

The day was also observed at offices of the district police with SPs led in paying tributes to the deceased police personnel.

In Imphal West district, its SP led in paying tribute to the police personnel who died after exposure to COVID-19 while discharging their duties.

Every year, October 21 is celebrated as the Police Commemoration Day, to pay tributes to all police personnel who died in the line of duty. 

The Police Commemoration Day remembers the ultimate sacrifice of 10 police personnel who lost their lives on October 21, 1959 in Ladakh while fighting the Chinese army.
