
Dimapur, April 21 (MExN): The debate for Dimapur range level competition was held at the police conference hall officers mess Chumukedima on April 19. Two district from Dimapur, Peren and Units from Chumukedima participated in the debate competition on the topic ‘Human rights and social justice are never delivered to the poor and illiterate in Naga society.’
The panel of judges included Imlisunep, IPS, Cmdt, NAPTC Chumukedima, James Kinghen, NPS, SP (Border), Cmd, Tinakali Sumi, senior editor, Nagaland Post and Imtiakum Jamir, public prosecutor, Dimapur. Two debaters from each group, selected to represent Dimapur range for the state level debate competition to be held on June 7 are ABSI Mhonyamo Kikon, 13 NAP (IR) and Dy. SP (Probs) James Jami, DEF Dimapur. To promote awareness on human rights and sensitization among police personnel, Nagaland police conducts yearly debate at district, range and state level where officers, participants from the rank of constables to District Superintendent of Police and Commandants take part. This was stated in a press release issued by DIGP (R/NAP) Akumba Yimchunger. Meanwhile, the range level competition on human rights issues was also organised by District Police, Mokokchung under the aegis of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) was held at Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung on April 19.
Police officers from Mon, Kiphire, Tuensang and Mokokchung districts took part in the debate competition on the topic ‘Human Rights & Social Justice are never delivered to the Poor & Illiterate in Naga Society’. Peter Shuya, Chopika Sema, Theja Rio, TR Abraham Sangtam, Nyanbemo Lotha and Wangshiliba were selected from among the participants to represent the range in the state level debate competition to be held in Kohima in May. DC Mokokchung, Murohu Chotso; S.P Mokokchung, Vikram Khalate and S.P (NPTO) Mokokchung, Rongsen Ao were the panel of juries. Concluding remarks on the competition was given by DIG (Range) Mokokchung W. Krome, while SDPO Mokokchung L.Impung Chang was the Moderator of the programme.
