Dimapur, May 14 (DIPR): A meeting of the Standing Committee of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) Dimapur was held on May 14 at Deputy Commissioner’s office, Dimapur in connection with the ensuing Lok Sabha bye-election in Nagaland. ADC Dimapur, Sara Jamir appealed to all the political parties to follow the guidelines of MCC to ensure peaceful conduct of elections. She also reminded them to take prior permission from the MCC standing committee for holding meetings, rallies and other political activities. Sara further told the political parties that the committee will be monitoring the political activities within the limit prescribed in the MCC.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Police, Dimapur, Chinese Chakhesang pointed out that though the election is going to be statewide, both the candidates are based in Dimapur. Therefore, he urged all concerned to keep the elections peaceful. “Like the last elections let us hope that everything remains peaceful,” the police official said.
Assistant Election Officer, Rolland Merry reminded the political parties to go through the MCC guidelines. He further apprised them that prior permission has to be obtained for printing of pamphlets and posters and also for providing the details of the publisher.
