
Dimapur, April 13 (MExN): The All India Coordinated Research Project on Honey Bees and Pollinators (AICRP), SASRD, Nagaland University conducted a programme in the month of March in five target villages, namely Medziphema, Rüzaphema, Socünoma, Tsiepama and Piphema, under the theme ‘Start-up of Scientific Beekeeping in Nagaland under Tribal Sub Plan’. Dr. RC Gupta, Dean, NU: SASRD was the chief guest. Gupta in his inaugural speech motivated the villagers citing the positive aspects of scientific beekeeping which not only includes higher honey productivity but also the benefits of pollination. He also encouraged harnessing its valued by-products. The programme was chaired by Prof. M Aleminla Ao, NU: SASRD and welcome address was delivered by Dr. HK Singh, Scientist In-charge, AICRP (HB&P), NU: SASRD. Dr. AK Singh, Asst. Scientist, AICRP (HB&P) delivered the vote of thanks. Scientific bee boxes and other bee rearing equipments were distributed to the beekeepers in the aforementioned villages. The programme was followed by Scientist-Farmer interaction.
