Postal department observes Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in Mokokchung on October 31.

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 2 (MExN): Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) was observed by Postal Department of Mokokchung Sub-Division on October 31 on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
A Unity Run was also organized to celebrate the event.
Addressing the gathering, Sh. Kevikhrielie Kirha, Inspector of Posts, Mokokchung Sub-Division said that India is a diversified nation with people from different races, languages, religion and colour.
He said that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first home minister of India, was instrumental in uniting all the princely states.
Recognizing his contributions, his birth anniversary is celebrated as the National Unity Day since 2014 and a statue of him known as the Statue of Unity was also erected in Gujarat.
“Thus the vision of the pioneer and nation builders to maintain social solidarity should continue to echo in our thoughts and action,” said Mr. Kirha.
I. Narola Jamir, Postmaster, Mokokchung MDG led the staffs and the public present at the event to take the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge to preserve the unity, integrity and also to make personal contribution to ensure internal security of the nation.
