DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 17 (MExN): The Department of Power has informed the general public and electricity consumers under Dimapur Electrical Division that under the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS), the existing consumers with electro-mechanical and electronic energy meters will be replaced by the pre-paid meters.

A press statement issued by Executive Engineer, Dimapur Electrical Division informed that this scheme is being implemented with the instruction and guidance of Ministry of Power to be mandatorily applied to all the electricity consumers. The process of replacement with pre-paid meters will be taken up in a phase manner where 10,000 have been allocated.

It noted that there are many complaints with regard to non-receipt of electricity bill, energy bill not in line with the actual meter reading and non-receipt of bill in time.

With the installation of pre-paid meters, the power department expressed optimism that all the above mentioned problem would be eradicated and that the consumers will be aware of energy conservation which will lead to overall reduction in power consumption hence reduced complaints of voltage drop, reduced wastage of power, as a result, the life of the electrical gadgets/equipment’s is expected to increase.

The following wards/colonies have been identified for implementation in the first phase- Police colony, Netaji colony, Nagarjan, Civil Hospital area, Duncan Basti, Church Road area, Dhobinala to City tower area, DMC, MP road, Hongkong market area, NST colony and PWD complex (Sematilla & PWD).

In this connection, all the consumers have been requested to extend full co-operation to the department for successful implementation of installing the pre-paid meters.
