Power Dept to conduct raids in Dimapur

DIMAPUR, MARCH 3 (MExN): The Nagaland Power Department has informed that raids will be conducted on defaulting consumers for non-payment of electricity bill having arrears for more than two months, theft of power through hooking, tampering of energy meters and pilferage of energy meters.  This notice was issued to inform all electricity consumers of all categories (Government consumers, bulk, industrial, commercial, domestic, VEMB and UEMB consumers) under Dimapur Electrical Division. This exercise will be carried out at various locations under Dimapur Electrical Division with immediate effect without further notice, the department stated.  It asked all electricity consumers of all kinds of categories to clear their outstanding bills and to desist from the illegal activities in order to avoid inconvenience. The department informed that as per the Indian Electricity Act 2003 Part XIV, Section 135: Any person who uses power illegally shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years or with fine or with both.
