Dimapur, August 19 (MExN): Officials of the department of Power has appealed to electricity consumers in Dimapur and adjoining areas to exercise restraint and to understand that the department is doing its best to normalize the power situation.
The Association of Power Engineers Nagaland (APEN) issued a message appealing to ‘all the affected consumers in Dimapur and surrounding areas.’ The protests and resentment of consumers are understandable, the technocrats stated. “However, Department has been taking necessary action on a war footing to restore normalcy up to the extent within the shortest time possible. These steps had been explained earlier through the media on several occasions,” the association said in the message. The power outages are due to the breakdown of the main 132/66kv 20MVA power transformer at Nagarjan sub-station, the association said.
“Under such a situation, the officers and staff of the department are hard pressed and working almost round the clock. While we are making such efforts, we request for understanding and restrain from the public, as strong reactions such as intimation, vandalism of departmental staff and properties would only make the working conditions more difficult, further delaying the restoration of normal services.”
The officers and field staffs of the department are working in an environment of threat and fear and are also unable to quickly respond to line faults etc., the association said. ‘This compounds the difficulties.’
The association appeals to all in concern to extend cooperation in such times as this. The press appeal was issued by APEN President Er. Khose Sale and General Secretary Er. Moa Aier.
