Dimapur, February 7 (MExN): The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Pranab College, Dimapur organised a talk on “Empowerment through Knowledge: Leadership and Indigenous Wisdom.”
Dr Samudragupta Kashyap, Chancellor of Nagaland University, delivered a talk on “Everyone Can Become a Leader.” Drawing inspiration from Northeast icons Dr Tali Ao, the first global leader from Nagaland from Independent India in football and Bhupen Hazarika from Assam, he highlighted their vision and resilience. He emphasized that true leaders go the extra mile for the betterment of society and master the art of silent communication as a tool for reflection and strategy. Concluding his address, Dr Kashyap asserted that leadership is a quality that can be cultivated through initiative and dedication.
The second speaker, Soumen Chakraborty spoke on “Indigenous Knowledge and Its Application.” He highlighted Northeast India’s rich cultural heritage, folk traditions, and geographical uniqueness. Despite its abundance of natural resources, the region’s hilly terrain presents challenges. He emphasized how local communities have developed traditional technologies that, when integrated with modern scientific knowledge, can become a valuable national asset.
The programme was graced by the presence of Joint Secretary Swami Chinmayanandaji Maharaj, who delivered words of blessing. Principal of Pranab College, Dr Santosh Kumar extended a welcome address, while Assistant Professor Ulla Fernandes chaired the session. The event concluded with vote of thanks delivered by IQAC Coordinator Dr Sanjukta Bhattacharjee.
