PRISM against yoga practice by police

Newmai News Network Aizawl | June 12   The Aizawl based anti-corruption watchdog People Right to Information and Development Implementing Society of Mizoram (PRISM) has slammed the Government of Mizoram for allowing police personnel to undertake yoga training and said the government should instead let them go for morning physical exercise if they wanted to let them stay physically fit.   The anti-corruption watchdog in a statement said it strongly believe that yoga has connection with Hindu philosophy and therefore yoga practice is not religiously safe for the police personnel, majority of whom are Christians. PRISM also maintained that letting police personnel practice yoga against their religious belief is not morally right in a secular state like India.   The statement demanded that the government revoke its decision of letting police take yoga training. "We highly appeal the state government to stop its plan for popularising yoga in a Christian state like Mizoram," PRISM stated.
