Kiphire, July 14 (MExN): An assistive devices distribution programme for senior citizens was organised at Hopongku Memorial Hall, Kiphire, on Tuesday by the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) in association with the Social Welfare Department and supported by the District Administration, according to a DIPR report.
Speaking on the occasion, Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Kiphire Takatemjen Pongen, NCS highlighted government schemes providing free mobility aids, hearing aids and rehabilitation kits for persons with disabilities.
He said the government is strengthening welfare programmes, improving accessibility and expanding support systems for vulnerable groups.
Pongen also appreciated ALIMCO for its technical expertise and commitment in ensuring that essential assistive devices reach even remote districts.
Beneficiaries from Kiphire Village and Kiphire Town attended the programme and received assistive devices, including hearing aids, wheelchairs with buckets and walking sticks.
Officials from ALIMCO, the Social Welfare Department, public leaders, GBs and residents of Kiphire Village and Town also attended the event, the State DIPR informed.
