
Dimapur, May 20 (MExN): Stressing on the importance of a common platform which will address not only the welfare of private colleges but also advance collegiate educational system in Nagaland, the college management association of Nagaland unanimously decided to form an association under the name, Private College Association Nagaland (PCAN), on September 8, 2018 at Immanuel College, Dimapur.
Formal Constitution of the newly formed association has been enacted on May 18, 2019 at the general meeting in Cornerstone College, Dimapur, under the motto, “Learning, Sacrifice, Service.”
A press release received stated here that PCAN is a not-for-profit, voluntary, non-governmental and a non-political body. It recognizes the local autonomy of the member college in terms of their internal management and operations. PCAN also in its memorandum recognises the responsibilities in higher education and education as a prime mover for well rounded development of a progressive society, encompassing all the social, economic, cultural and emotional aspect that go into producing human capital. Apart from the discharging the duties as an educational association, PCAN also pledge towards corporate social responsibilities, philanthropy and charitable works.
“PCAN took a firm resolution to enhance and promote ethical practices and academic integrity in all aspect and process of educational delivery and to develop Nagaland as an educational hub,” it added.
The members are voluntary and all private colleges affiliated with Nagaland University (NU), private universities affiliated with UGC who has physical campus/college present within Nagaland are deemed for membership.
Office bearers elected
The newly elected office bearers for PCAN for the term 2019-2022 will be led by President- Dr. PS Lorin, Principal, Tetso College, Dimapur; Vice – President- SP Francis, President, Governing Body, Modern Christian College, Kohima; General Secretary - Vezhühü Keyho, Principal, Capital College, Kohima; Joint Secretary- Fr. George Angami, Vice Principal, St. Joseph College, Kohima; Finance secretary- Neibulie Peseyie, Chairman, Eastern Christian College, Dimapur; Treasurer- Dr. Sashimeren Aier, Chairman, Governing board, Cornerstone College, Dimapur.
The Executive members include Er. Moa Aier, President, C-Edge College, Dimapur; N.M. Ovung, Chairman, Unity College, Dimapur; Joshua Achumi, Chairman, Managing Board, Yemhi Memorial College, Dimapur; N Kumar, Managing Director, City College of Arts and Commerce, Dimapur; and Fr. Dr C Anto, Principal, NEISSR, Dimapur.
