Probe invites info on Dimapur clash

Dimapur, September 8 (MExN): The Fact-finding committee probing the September 1 clash in Dimapur between some members of two communities has appealed to the public to come forward with information and details that could aid the inquiry. The committee issued a press release today said the public of Dimapur would be able to provide necessary information to enable the inquiry to ascertain facts, circumstances and causes of the agitation that lead to “damage to certain public places” and then clashes.

The government of Nagaland had instituted a Fact Finding Committee comprising three officials headed by NN Walling, IPS (Retd) DGP of Prisons & Home Guards as convener, KN Ngullie (Retd) Commissioner & Secretary to the government of Nagaland and LT Konyak (Retd) secretary to the government of Nagaland as members.

“The committee considers that public of Dimapur area would be able to provide necessary information to enable the committee to ascertain the facts; and therefore the committee appeal and invite the public of Dimapur area to take initiative and come forward and feed the committee with information and facts about the aforesaid incident which will help the committee to submit its report to the government suggesting measures to be taken so that adequate pre-emptive measures are taken to prevent occurrence of such incidence in future,” the committee said in the press release.

Information may be given to the committee either through an affidavit solemnly sworn before a competent authority or volunteering to depose before the committee appearing in person at the venue, date and time the committee may notify in course of time. 

Public members desirous of providing information through the affidavit may submit to Wepretso Mero, Secretary to the government of Nagaland (Home) and member secretary, Fact Finding Committee. The Fact Finding Committee members will start sitting and hearing from the public from Wednesday, September 12, at 10:00 AM in Circuit House of Dimapur.
