Dimapur, June 27 (MExN): The Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), Prodigals’ Home, Murise Village, Dimapur commemorated the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking under the theme, ‘Better Knowledge for Better Care’ on June 26.
A report from Prodigal’s Home stated that Residential Counsellor, Longching Konyak, dwelled on the significance and impact of commemorating the annual event and called upon the youths to live drug free lives by becoming more aware of the perils of addiction and to use knowledge as a weapon against addiction and illicit trafficking. He also challenged the churches to play more pro-active roles in the fight against addiction.
During the programme, an Art Competition on the theme, ‘Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life’ which had 24 participants from the villages of Murise, Tsithrongse and Diezephe was exhibited wherein Alongdi Sangtam and B Moses Sangtam were declared winners.
The programme, along with the staff and residents of the centre, was attended by the church members of Murise and Tsithrongse villages. Residential Counsellor, Zubemo Lotha chaired the programme while the Youth Director, Tsithrongse Baptist Church shared his perspective on addiction. Invocation and benediction prayers were offered by the pastors of Murise and Tsithrongse Baptist Churches.
