Senapati, August 9 (NNN): The proposed 24-hour Senapati district bandh announced earlier by civil society organisations of the district from midnight of August 9 has been called off. It was in protest of the inclusion of Henbung check post in Kangpokpi district. "In view of the clarification received through the Senapati Deputy Commissioner, issued by the Commissioner (Finance), Government of Manipur on Taxation check Post, Hengbung on NH-2 and upon subsequent threadbare discussion on the matter held with tribe hohos, public leaders and frontal organization at Naga Peoples' Organisation (NPO) office, the clarification was found satisfactory as sought by the Senapati people," a joint statement from the organisations of Senapati district noted today. "The proposed plan to take up people’s agitation in the form of 24-hour total shutdown and thereafter picketing of government offices in the district are hereby called off," the statement added.
