Protocols in place for movement of stranded persons from other states

Kohima, May 4 (MExN): A set of Standard Operation Protocols (SOPs) for movement of persons from outside the state who are stranded in Nagaland was issued today. Under the SOPs, the Deputy Commissioners of the districts of Nagaland have been designated as the Nodal Authority for sending out stranded persons from other states to their respective states/Union Territories. 


Additionally, an Empowered Group for COVID-19 Control Room consisting of Additional Chief Secretary and Finance Commissioner Sentiyanger Imchen; Principal Secretary, Home Abhijit Sinha; Additional Director general of Police Renchamo and Joint Secretary to the Government of Nagaland Anthony Ngully, will coordinate the movement of inter-state stranded persons.


According to the SOPs, no persons shall be allowed leave without obtaining proper permit from the respective state/district authority. It also stated that permit for movement shall be issued only when the receiving has consented and payment is made by the person himself or the receiving state government.


Further, the permit will be issued only to persons who have been screened, does not show any symptoms of COVID-19 and possess a letter from the competent medical authority certifying that the person has been screened and found asymptomatic. 


Other requirements of the SOPs include a special car pass issued by the district authority with fixed route, validity and names of persons travelling as well as destination wise details which will be shared with the respective receiving state/UTs for follow up.


In addition to these, vehicles used for transportation will have to be disinfected/sanitized before and after use and all social distancing norms in seating arrangements and other safety procedures are to be strictly maintained.
