Meluri, May 15 (MExN): The Pochury Students’ Union (PSU) has unequivocally extended its support to what it termed the “resolute stand” of the Meluri Area Public Organisation (MAPO) against the alarming negligence shown by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and the executing firm, KKB RULHO Pvt. Ltd., in the ongoing two-lane road construction project in Meluri District.
Earlier, MAPO had stated that no vehicles, machinery, or officials of NHIDCL and KKB Rulho would be allowed to ply along the stretch if no positive actions were taken by May 16.
In a press release, the PSU stated that it was “appalled to learn that a completion certificate has been issued by NHIDCL despite the ground reality, and that machinery was withdrawn from the site.”
It stated that the act was not only illogical but also reflected a serious lapse in upholding public trust, and cautioned that if such actions remain unaddressed, NHIDCL risks facing growing public dissatisfaction.
The PSU further argued that despite several joint inspections involving NHIDCL officials, the contractor, and village leaders, the lack of any substantial progress, along with disengagement from the project site, serves as “undeniable proof of negligence and systemic failure.”
This delay is not merely administrative inefficiency; it is a direct insult to the mobility, safety, and dignity of the local populace, it added.
Condemning the “continued apathy,” the PSU, in solidarity with MAPO, demanded immediate, tangible, and irreversible corrective measures within the stipulated deadline.
This is a collective call for justice, and if timely and decisive action is not taken, the PSU will intensify its democratic engagements alongside MAPO and the affected communities, the union added.
The PSU also reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to all people’s movements that advocate for transparency, responsible governance, and public welfare.
